Get to know La Paz through the
eyes of Women. What is it like to be a woman living in this
hectic city? What if you are an indigenous woman? A student?
An immigrant? A mother? A merchant? A businesswoman? An
activist? On this 2.5-hour walking tour, you will learn about the
historical and ongoing struggles of the women of La Paz. Our
guides will explain how they strive to be educated, have control
over their bodies, and have their voices and proposals heard.
This tour will provide you with a true cultural immersion
experience.

Starting Point – San Francisco Church: Brief introduction to the history of La Paz.

The Witches' Market (Mercado de las Brujas): We will explore the historical role of women in natural medicine and Andean spirituality.

Markets of La Paz: We will visit markets and businesses run primarily by women, as well as traditional clothing galleries to learn about the iconic fashion of the cholitas paceñas.

Rodríguez Market: We will learn about the informal economy and examine gender roles within Bolivian culture.

San Pedro Prison: A brief stop to discuss women's struggles for justice, bodily autonomy, and equal rights.

Virgen de los Deseos – Sopocachi: The tour ends at the Mujeres Creando café, where we will learn about some of Bolivia's most prominent feminist organizations. Visitors are welcome to stay and purchase food and drinks on their own (not included in the tour).
